The first bitcoin address ever used on 16 Jan 2009.

Some transactions were made before this address was used, but this is the first transaction where a payment was made to an actual address (the previous transactions used P2PK, which do not have addresses).

In 2013 a college student created a sign saying "HI MOM SEND BITCOIN" along with their bitcoin address in the form of a QR code. They managed to get their sign on TV by standing in the crowd at a college sports event.

They posted their sign on Reddit on 30 November 2013, and over the next few days they received 34.11382488 BTC across 120 transactions, which was worth $42,219 at the time.

This was pretty cool, as it highlights the power of Bitcoin in the way it allows you to easily and anonymously send any amount of money to anyone in the world.

Note: Notice how they also used vanitygen to get "HiMoM" at the start of their bitcoin address.

3Beer3irc1vgs76ENA4coqsEQpGZeM5CTd

Donation address for this website. I started using this address in 2018.

Note: I used segvan (similar to vanitygen but can create 3addresses) to get "Beer" at the start of the address.
